reason # 5802 the BBC is a sorry excuse for a news network
If you were to decribe Osama Bin Laden with one phrase, what would it be? Islamic fundamentalist?, terrorist?, militant muslim fanatic?, mass murderer? just plain evil?
Ha! not if your the BBC, in that case he is simply a "Saudi-born dissident." Broken down that is: "a guy born in Saudi Arabia who disagrees"
not to shabby a reputation for a guy with the blood of 3000 people on his hands

ahhh, the eternal question. "Why do they hate us?" No, it's not because we're an evil imperialistic historically opressive people. It just becuase they think we are. thus the real question becomes "Why do they think this stuff" because they are fed lies like this, and this, a big pile of this, or maybe a bucket of this.

Life took a crap on my this weekend, not ready to talk to anybody about it yet, but rest assured, you will eventually be able to find out about it.

Seriously dude, I mean WTF?
Once again I am confronted with the most difficult decisions, what exactly to think about this guy's plan to make the Bay Area it's own country. On one hand, I utterly distest majority the people who live there and don't really want to share a country with them. On the other hand, They are so messed up in the head that I almost feel sorry for them, and I think they need somebody to look after them to make sure they don't get themselves killed.
I could seriously pick this article apart piece by piece, but that would take to much room, and it's not worth the effort. I will however pick out random stuff and make fun of it though:
Favorite absurd phrase: "destructive tax cuts"
Their new laws? "bans on guns altogether, full legalization of same-sex unions, an expansion of public television and radio, complete decriminalization of marijuana, basic health care for all, environmental protections that would be the envy of North America.
Their impending results? criminals kill everyone, the gov't spreads it's propoganda to the masses and then makes them pay for it, mass exodus of doctors, non-existent economy, gov't loses control because they don't have money because the people don't have money because the gov't keeps the people from having money.
This guy even hates on Abe Lincoln, and praises the South. Whose discendents (i.e. a huge chunk of the 'publican party) basically think like there forefathers and yet are the "enemy" of all that is "The Bay Area".
Eureka I've got it!
We make this happen, but populate the town with thousands of hidden cameras, seal all the borders for one year, and turn the entire area into the biggest/best reality TV ever! Who wouldn't pay to watch this stuff? I swear, the show would peg the unintenional comedy meter for the rest of time. We could even give the show it's own channel 24/7, like The Truman show, only with 5 million more people. Somebody get me an appointment with the network execs, I've got a show to pitch!

I love Burt Rutan, and all that he represents. For those of you who don't know, Burt also built and design Voyager, the only airplane to circumvent the world with out refueling. I would make a comment of the merits of private industry right now, but that'd just label me a NASA hater.
I've read a lot lately about the "lack of follow through" concerning the U.S. foreign policy. I've read a couple of pieces about it in the N.Y. Times and quite a few AP articles also. The basic jest of all these articles have been: The U.S. goes into a country, kicks their butt, loses interest, and then looks around for somebody else to beat up on. The entire purpose seems to be to point out that we are going into these escapades recklessly and don't think them through. I don't buy it. I think as a whole, this country has put an incredible amount of thought into what comes after the butt kicking. And each time we face the decision we come up with the same conclusion. Let the people rule themselves. We give them initial direction, restore order in the beginning, and then let the people do their own thing. This may seem like a foreign idea to the left-wing editorial writers, but then again, so does the U.S. constitution (except of course for the 2nd amendment, they wave that flag @ super sonic speed). I may be a dirty imperialist, but I don't think the idea of having a bunch of countries modeled after the U.S. is a bad thing.

Screw you guys, I'm going home
I still have no idea what to think about Roy and the fiasco he just dropped, so I'll leave it up to my fellow students and their assorted statements from the Free-for-All:
Hey, Roy, thanks for all the memories. We´ll miss hearing you say “freakin"
Roy, I´ve defended you since the day you came here 15 years ago and I have to say I have never felt so disrespected
Now that Roy Williams is leaving, what are we going to call Late Night? You can´t say `Late Night with Bill Self.´ And what are we going to yell before the games? You can´t say, “Bill, Bill, Bill.” And “Bill´s Place?” That just sucks.
Ruck Foy.
Oh, I get it, Roy. What you meant to say was, “I could give a shit about the 13 players in the locker room.”
Dadgum. Freakin´ dadgum.

Roy, you made my grandma cry. And I´m not too happy, either.

In news about sports that are not college basketball: TOG's perennial "closest to my town" team, the Kansas City Royals are 7-0, Seven and Freaking Oh! The best start in franchise history. These are the Royal's we are talking about, how is this even possible?
...in other baseball news, TOG's perennial favorite baseball team in the whole wide world, the Atlanta Braves, are 3-6. We've won the NL East for the past 11 straight years, and now we're 3 and 6? This is going to be a long season.

and now to add insult to unemploymentness, I offer this retort to Al.
Al: "(The) Kansas basketball coach had the power to crush me or let me fly and he chose to crush me. This is a sad day in college athletics when a college basketball coach can hire and fire an athletic director."
Me: Roy=Basketball God, Al=sleazy used car salesmen. Ha ha ha! you're unemployed! Don't you have a bread-line to stand in somewhere? Words Down
A lot had been said about the "propoganda" the U.S. had been dropping in Iraq before military actions started. I just looked at the leaflets we dropped, and well...I'll put it this way. If propogada were alcohol, this stuff would be O'Doul's. There is some demonization of Saddam himself, but nothing compared to the stuff we pulled on our own citizens during WWII, and certainly nothing compared to this junk.
Overall, I give this "propoganda" an R-minus

U.N. is evil
I've got the same feelings as this guy about the U.N. but unlike him, I think Bush want's to keep the U.N. around. If he really wanted to force it into irrelavancy, he would have pushed for the final U.N.S.C. vote, let France veto it, and go in anyway. That would have truly put the legitamacy of the U.N. in jeopardy

40 Minutes
There are 40 minutes of basketball left, 2400 seconds between immortalization and a lifetime of regrets. Validation for everything you’ve worked for, every practice you’ve ever attended, and every wind sprint you’ve ever run, is very near. You’ve been hated and disrespected for an entire year. “A boy among giants” they said. Too young, too old, too soft, not capable of greatness, anything and everything has been said about you, to insult you, to discredit you and all you’ve done. 40 minutes stand between you and an immortal stamp in history. Fight the good fight, outlast the enemy and stand up in the end. Greatness is in the palm of your hand. Grab it, and hold on for 40 minutes. And then stand up to be counted among the elite, the great ones of the greatest game. And if ever there was a point to pay tribute to your own Knute Rockney, this is it. So go out, seize the day, and win one for the gipper

Nicholas DeGenova: most evil person on earth
I still don't know why this guy hasn't been fired. He explecitly wished for 19 million American Servicemen to die. And even if you believe America to be the "Great Satan", he also wished for 1 billion members of the opposition militia to die. These numbers aren't exagerated, in any way. I'm not taking a leap of faith, I'm merely doing his math for him. All politics aside, any person who wants to see 1/6th of the Earth's population die is evil personified.
I want him fired right now, as a taxpayer of the United States I help pay his salary, and I want him gone.

What is Kansas Basketball? it's exactly that, Basketball. The collective personification of the word. Here in Lawrence, Basketball is a proper noun. It transcends everything. I don't know of a more pure group of people, so dedicated to a single cause, that exist anywhere. All Basketball roads lead to Kansas, if you picked out some random high school Basketball player in europe, I will almost garuntee he's got direct player/coach linage to The University of Kansas. For more proof check out Jim Caple's Article about his 1-day visit to campus. You'll truely become a believer.

hot seat?
being the basic Capitalist that I am, and considering the that it raises, I've decided to answer a few sticky questions:
Totally Factious Reader: Since you are all about ability, doesn't that mean letting all the disabled people die?
TOG: Not really, there are plenty of people out there who will help the disabled because they enjoy it. And if those people ask me for some money to feed these disabled people, I'll most likely give lots of it to them. I just don't want self proclaimed, "advocates" getting the government pay them to help the world. Because at that point, it's no longer my choice to give disabled people money, it is being forcibly taken away from me. I don't care how noble the cause; no one "deserves" my money but me.
TFR: You're mean, I hate you! Where does religion fall into this whole thing?
TOG: Religion is entirely a personal matter, and has no place in government. I'm 110% for religion in general, but my personal beliefs and those of others are basically irrelavent on a grand earthly scale. Whenever government gets involved, nothing becomes voluntary. Even though the government may share my religion now, that doesn't mean it will in 50 years, and I don't want to run that chance.
TFR: Whoa, that's pretty heavy stuff
TOG: What did you expect?
TFR: I figured you'd just follow that Republican line...hey, wait a minute, I'm supposed to be asking the questions here!
TOG: Too bad. My website, my rules
TFR: that's not fair
TOG: yes it is
TFR: oh right, sorry dude
