And now some assorted rantings:
It really annoys me when American Citizens constantly identify themselves by their heritage. I don’t care that you think that you’re “preserving your culture.” There is an entire other country/continent out there living in that culture, they don’t need you to preserve it for them. It bothers me when people say they like potatoes because they’re Irish. You like potatoes because they taste good, not because your great-great-great-great-great uncle was born to Irish immigrants. If you were born in The United States, you are American, not Irish, Greek, Italian, or any other nationality. America is a melting pot, the key word there is melting, as in become part of the American people, not separate yourself from them and proclaim your differences. It's my opinion that 95% of all discrimination would disappear if people just stopped identifying themselves as hyphenated Americans (African-American, Asian-American, Italian-American, etc…)

Just recently a group of self-proclaimed "Hollywood Elite" signed a petition and a "Statement of Conscious" explaining that 9/11 was a "horrible event" with "terrible scenes of carnage" is it just me or does that sound like they are consoling the victims of a natural disaster? Their statement also asks "What kind of world will this become if the U.S. government has a blank check to drop commandos, assassins, and bombs where it wants?" I don't know what they are looking at, but the last time I checked, that "blank check" was signed with the blood of 3,000 innocent people. Which pretty much leads me to say:
God Bless our Commandos, Assassins, and Bombs

I'm in Springfield, MO right now (insert Muck Fizzou comment here) visiting my best friend from high school, so I probably won't post a whole lot until I get back Sunday afternoon. But first a few words about my greyhound adventures thus far. I bought my tickets for the 4:15 departure yesterday, but when the bus rolled up the driver simply stated, "You'll have to wait" and then promptly left. Leaving my fellow would-be travelers befuddled. Apparent the bus was full, and we would all have to take a later route, even though it clearly states on the Greyhound website that When Greyhound fills a bus with passengers, on the regularly scheduled departure, we "call-up an additional bus so basically this meant that instead of arriving @ 1:15 in the a.m. I'm here at 12:20 in the p.m. 11 hours later, that bites the big one. And in the "same war but different front" category, riding a bus in general is cool, but the people that ride them are obnoxiously loud.
...just some thoughts

In this era of non-judgmental mush, too many Americans have become incapable of facing the brutal reality of unprovoked hatred, based on envy, resentment and ultimately on a vicious urge to lash out against others for the pain of one's own insignificance. That has been a common thread in things as disparate as ghetto riots, two world wars, and now Islamic terrorism.

Sorry about the lack of posts lately, I spent about 12 straight hours yesterday, and about 4 hours/day before that working on our homecoming float. It was a complicated piece of work, with about 8 different independent movements all choreographed to simulate a Jayhawk laying the smack down on a Colorado Buffalo. It's hard to explain exactly how it looked, so I'll try to put up a link to pictures/video of the float when they are available.
Needless to say, things are looking up and I see much more sleep in my future...and I think I'll start right now.

ah ha, somebody is reading my blogs, I got this in the old e-mail today:
"Not to be overly analytical or anything, but try to be subjective here: If you think about it, your Frat kind of has you tricked....because what does the the Greek letter Delta look like? It's a triangle. Sooooo.....indirectly, your Frat does have a Greek letter. It's just incognito. Pretty stealthy if you ask me. Just a thought. =D "
For those of you out of the know, our symbol is a triangle with a T in the middle, as seen on the Kansas Chapter of Triangle Website (look in the upper-left hand corner). As you can tell, our symbol is unique, and obviously not a Greek letter. Nice try though
normally I wouldn't care except for the fact that I hate everything inherent to the Greek system. I just live here because the guys are smarter than me, they aren't tools like in every other fraternity, and It's the cheapest place I can live on campus.

I'm still not motivated enough to set up a separate "about me" page so I'll give you the skinny on me right now:
I'm a 19-year-old Aerospace Engineering sophomore at the University of Kansas. I live in Triangle Fraternity (yeah that's right FRATERNITY with no Greek letters). I live in the room right next to Mucci and Juby. I'm an objectivist as far as political view go, but I'm an die hard believer in capitalism which I guess makes me the great Satan to the Islamic world, it's okay though I can deal with that. On a personal level, I'm a...level...person...I guess, I don't go through mood swings, and I've only been mad twice in the last three years (literally, I know it's weird, but it's true). I've got an extremely long fuse. On and even more personal level, I'm an insomniac, not as in like "night owl”, but as in like "go to bed @ 11:00 and lay there awake for 8 hours and get up the next morning with out sleeping. And do that 3-4 times a week” It’s not nearly as glorious when it's medical condition.
I'll think of more stuff too put down later, or if you're just dying to know, send me an email: kbh@ku.edu (if you spam me I will eat your first born child!)
